Oasis Gig Review The Bournemouth International Centre Tuesday 21st October 08
This was the second night of two sell out show’s here in Bournemouth it was great to see all of the band enjoying themselves onstage my good friend from Liverpool, drummer Chris Sharrock was on fire his playing was superb and as I have mentioned in the past he adds something special to the band that I feel had been missing since Alan White. Chris brings with him 30 years playing experience, I said to my son James. You will not see a better drummer; he has got to be up there in the top five drummers in Britain.
Chris was playing a smaller drum kit that he has been used to playing after settling for a basic set up. The drum kit was made especially for him by Premier drums; the kit is modelled on the John Bonham mirror steel finish drum kit. Cymbals were all Zildjians.
The number that started this superb gig was Rock “n” Roll Star this had the crowd jumping up and down, and then it was hit after hit with a few new numbers from there wonderful new album “Dig out Your Soul”
Those songs that stood out were. Lyla Cigarettes and Alcohol Meaning of Soul Wonderwall Songbird Slide Away and the acoustic version of Don’t Look Back In Anger
The crowd were going crazy and I am glad we were up on the balcony as lots of flying plastic pint pots were being thrown filled with water. The sound and lights were great and while the band were playing the hits
Liam was stood centre stage looking at the crowd. He chucked his tambourine into the crowd of which everyone near the stage was trying to get hold of it.
Once the gig finished we went to the backstage area and had to stick our passes on for security purposes then we made our way to the room. It was great to see Chris and his drum tech Mickey Winder, they made me and my son James welcome and we had a couple of soft drinks with the boys and took a few photos. Many Thanks Chris for sorting out the tickets and now that we have swapped addresses please keep in touch.
Chris reads Musker beats drumming information and he was pleased I had put his joining Oasis on this site. He also likes to read the features on the drummers and the latest news. Thanks again Chris
