MITCH MITCHELL WILL BE SORELY MISSED
Many music fans and musicians have been upset recently at the death of Mitch Mitchell. It was nice to read so many great messages about Mitch Mitchell. Dominic Howard drummer from the band Muse said for drummers everywhere, Mitchell’s influence was immense. He will be sorely missed; he was one of the very first drummers to bring jazz influences to rock music, which resulted in his own very unique style of drumming. Mitch’s playing has always been greatly inspiring and complimented Jimi’s insane psychedelic guitar work perfectly
Did you know that Mitch had auditioned for The Who losing out to Keith Moon? I personally thought Mitch was a better drummer than Moonie.
It was Mitch’s drumming with Hendrix that made such an impact to the band the. Andy Burrows from the band Razorlight added Mitch had an energy and flare. He will always be a huge inspiration to me.
Johnny Marr guitarist from The Cribs said he wasn’t just keeping a beat.
The reason The Jimi Hendrix Experience were able to be a three-piece was because of Mitch Mitchell. Alex Kaprano of Franz Ferdinand said that some of the world’s finest guitarists recognised Mitchell’s genius behind the drum kit Mitch’s drumming style was so expansive, spacey and expressive.
Adam Ficek drummer with Babyshambles said that Mitch was a huge inspiration to me; he inspired me to take up drumming after I had watched him on video playing Fire.
Roy Carr a music journalist who saw and interviewed The Jimi Hendrix Experience at the height of their success said that Mitch was very imaginative. He also said that if you listen to one of the early Hendrix records he is playing and you could hear Jimi feeding off the beats and rolls he would play, so many drummers were inspired by Mitch’s drumming. His legacy will live on through through his outstanding drumming.

I know I don’t just speak for myself when I say that with the passing of Mitch Mitchell, the drumming community will be very sad.
