Many Thanks, Many Thanks, Many Thanks

zilMany Thanks to Tina Clarke from the Zildjian cymbal company for very
kindly donating a box full of 16 Zildjian cymbals, to my youth centre
here in sunny Bournemouth. I am in the process of setting them onto
cymbal stands so as i can start educating the members here at Linwood
Youth Centre in Alma Road Bournemouth. All of the cymbals are different
sizes and are mainly crash cymbals, so the members will have a great
time working on their rhythms, beats and rudiments. Thanks again Tina

GENESIS NEW'S

genesisIf you were lucky enough to get hold of any of the Genesis tickets that
went on sale recently, then i am told you will all be in for a great gig
as the band are going to play a wide variety of their material including
some of the hits. If you were unlucky on getting a ticket then the
reason for this is all tickets sold out in record time. It will be great
to see Chester Thompson and Phil Collins in action, as there will be Two
drumkits on stage. I will be doing a report of the gig's as and when
they happen.

THE RIVERLATION

It is always nice to hear about new bands coming through and trying to
get into the music scene here in Bournemouth/ Poole, please look out for
a Five piece line up that call themselves
The Riverlation. They are aged between 16 and 17, they are building up a
steady following and are writing their own material, why not check them
out on their website at.

WWW.MYSPACE.COM/THE RIVERLATION

The band are currently rehearsing as much as possible, so please go and
support them when they start gigging. All the very best to this band

bloc partyI was very sorry to hear of the band "BLOC PARTY" having to cancel their
tour of America, this was due to their drummer Matt Tong who was taken
to hospital as he was very ill. We hope you get well soon, Matt who
come's from Bournemouth and is a very good drummer.

I am in the middle of putting together a piece about the session drummer
supreme Jeff Porcaro, who sadly died on August 5th 1992 from a heart
attack. Just to give you an idea how popular Jeff was his funeral was
attended by 1500 people. I will have this complete late January, i must
get back to work so take care

Happy New Year to everyone that reads this drumming information, i will
be doing my very best throughout 2007 to keep you all updated on
drumming new's from around the world.

poole pI would like to start off this year by giving those hard working young
men at Poole Percussion a mention, well done for moving everything out
of your shop in Parkstone Poole to your new warehouse on The Nuffield
Estate near Toy's R Us in record time. I went along to the new shop last
Saturday, there is plenty of free parking and as soon as you walk into
the new shop you are given a warm welcome from the ever friendly staff.
Free Tea or Coffee while you walk around this huge place, of which is
crammed full of everything to do with drumkits, cymbals, drumsticks,
drum magazines, educational books, video's DVD's, drum skins etc

poole pThey must have about 30 drumkits on display plus a huge range of cymbals by all of the different companies, what look's so impressive is the large stage at the back of the shop. This will give visiting name drummers the
chance to display their talents for the general drumming public.

Craig Blundell will be appearing at Poole Percussion all day Saturday 27th
January so if you have any questions that you would like to ask Craig
just turn up at the new store and ask him. Just above the stage is a
large screen with all your favourite drumming video's and DVd's this is
on all day so there is plenty to see, i popped in for a good look around
and to pass my best wishes onto the staff team of Paul, Austin, and
Chris.

Paul mentioned that he will be trying to get hold of Steve White to come
to the store and spend a Saturday doing demonstrations and answering all
of your questions, just watch this space and i will keep you all updated
on who's playing when.

               Take care  Joe Musker
