Hello to all of you drummers, wherever you are

I popped into Poole Percussion The Drummers Shop in Poole on Friday night, I am not kidding you there is hardly any space to walk as the shop is well stocked with goodies for us drummers. They have lots of new, drumkits and a very good selection of Cymbals, and drumsticks. I had a chat to Austin the shop's manager and he has made a few deals available, for you youngster's interested in adding things to your drumkits.

A double bass drum pedal made by P.D.P the company that makes D.W. drums                          £99

Sonor Snare drums start at          £60

a brand new starter drum kit will cost you

                                    £199

for those of you who are interested in getting hold of one of these items, mention my name. Then you will get the discount.

I am always trying to get the best deal's possible for you up and coming drummers, please support your local drum stores.

I would like to pass on my thanks to the very positive messages I have received from young drummers about this website, if you feel that there is a topic regarding drumming or anything to do with playing could you please contact me at
Joe Musker, Linwood Youth Centre, Winton, BOURNEMOUTH.

I would like to say that chatting to you up and coming drummers how surprised I was to find that so many of you cannot read, drum music. If you would like to go into session drumming whether it is local or in the city of London, you would be expected to be able to read to a certain degree.

buddy richI would like to say that there are several books available to you. The Buddy Rich Snare drum book of rudiments, this is a fantastic book and well worth the money. This book is full of the fantastic rudiments that we play within our criteria as drummers. The price of the book is probably the price you would pay for a drum lesson between £10 to £14 this book was written with Buddy's good friend Henry Addler. This book starts off with very basic hand exercises and as you turn each page the exercises get a little harder. I got hold of the original book when I was starting out in 1972, and I found that once you start learning to read the drum dots/ drum music you cannot put the book down. My wife got me the updated book some 10 years ago, and I am reading this book on a regular basis.

Best of luck everyone

yours for better drumming Joe Musker
