Simon Kirke was the drummer from that great band called FREE. He was the man that played drums on the hit singles All Right Now and Wishing Well, before the band split up and moved on to become Bad Company with the classic Can’t get Enough of your love etc. he now lives the other side of the pond in Manhattan USA. EARLY CHRISTMAS PRESENT
The Martin Scorsese-directed film called Shine A Light, which documents two 2006 performances by Charlie Watts and The Rolling Stones, is now on general release on DVD format the release date was November 10th.

MITCH MITCHELL
It has just been confirmed that legendary drummer Mitch Mitchell who was, Jimi Hendrix’s drummer died of natural causes, he died in his sleep. US medical tests have revealed. British drummer Mitch Mitchell whose fusion style of drumming allowed Jimi Hendrix and Noel Redding to feed off each other.
Mitch Mitchell became one of history’s greatest drummers, a source close to him said that he made his final performance at the last West Coast leg of the Experience Hendrix tribute tour. He played only one song, and looked tired. We will all miss Mitch Mitchell he was such a superb drummer.
LEWIS HAMILTON
It was great to see Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton sitting behind a drum kit. I had known for a while that he likes to play drums as he says it helps him relax, away from the pressures of his hectic life as a racing driver. Lewis picked up the drumsticks during an open day at the Mercedes factory in Stuttgart, Germany. I have heard that he is a pretty good drummer.
COLDPLAY NEWS
With the new album Viva La Vida sitting at the top of the charts in 36 countries around the world. Coldplay continue their march towards world domination with an international tour, which includes a series of UK dates from 1st to the 19th of December and then finishing in Dublin on the 21st December.

I heard that the band had a very lucky escape when their tour bus crashed and later exploded. The accident happened on the M62 as the band was on their way from Glasgow to Lincoln. The road was closed after the accident. I am glad to report no one was hurt. Many congratulations to the band AC/DC for being number 1 in this weeks album chart with their new album called Black Ice. It is also great news to hear that the band will be touring soon. Both Angus and his brother Malcolm have been with the band since the beginning. It is interesting to note that a suggestion by their sister regarding Angus dressing up as a school boy went down so well with the band and crowd that he kept this in the act. The band are driven by the superb drumming of Phil Rudd

Many Many Thanks to Tina Clarke from the Zildjian cymbal company for very kindly sending me a box of Zildjian cymbals plus 20 pairs of Zildjian drum sticks to use for the drumming bash happening here in Bournemouth called DRUMMING 4 LIFE on Saturday November 8at 12.00 noon the great British drummer, Steve White will phone my youth club to tell the youngsters to start drumming. There are six youth clubs involved and we will all be playing using the basic 4/4 beat as the main structure for the rhythm, while others will play drum rudiments and beats but the main emphasis is to try and keep in time.
All money raised from DRUMMING 4 LIFE will go directly to the charity Youth Cancer Trust of which is based at Alum Chine in Bournemouth. If you feel you would like to donate anything please get in touch with Georgina at YCT Alum Chine Bournemouth and simply write
