New
Deal - Newsline New Deal is a key part of the Government's
Welfare to Work strategy. New Deal has been created
to help unemployed people into work by closing the gap
between the skills employers want and the skills people
can offer. It's ambitious, it's different, and it's
a real opportunity to get people off benefits and into
work.

Employment of 16-18 year olds
Anyone over the minimum school leaving age can work full-time,
although there are some restrictions on the type of work,
for example, someone aged 16 or 17 cannot work in a bar.
A local education authority can impose restrictions on the
type of work and hours of work a young person aged 16 or 17
can do if s/he stays on at school.
